Botany Aquatic Centre Upgrade
In partnership with Bayside Council, we’re helping transform the Botany Aquatic Centre (BAC) with a $5 million investment in a brand-new family water play area, featuring a slide and splash pad.
This is the first major project delivered through our multi-million-dollar partnership with Bayside Council, funded by the Community and Environment Projects Reserve established in 2019 to support local and environmentally focused initiatives over the next decade.
The upgraded pool is set to make a splash when it opens in summer 2027/28.
Free Swimming Lessons
The proceeds from our annual Lost Property Auction — totalling more than $350,000 — are helping fund thousands of free swimming lessons for local children.
These lessons will be delivered through the Inner West Council and Sydney Airport Community Water Safety Program, rolling out at Ashfield Aquatic Centre, Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre and Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre.
Dedicated water safety programs will also be offered in partnership with the Royal Life Saving Society.
Free School Tours
Since launching in 2024, our School Tours Program has welcomed over 1,300 local students behind the scenes at Australia’s busiest airport.
Designed for Year 5 and 6 students, these full-day tours showcase aviation careers and give students a unique look at airport operations.
Highlights include exploring the terminal, learning from First Nations landcare experts, watching detector dogs in action, getting up close to aircraft and runways, and seeing the Aviation Rescue Fire Fighting Service in action.
Wildflower Gardens for Good
Our partnership with Wildflower – Gardens for Good began in 2022, when their team helped design and landscape the T1 International Terminal forecourt.
Wildflower is a First Nations-led not-for-profit specialising in premium sustainable horticulture, landscape and ecology services, while providing meaningful employment opportunities for young people facing barriers to work.
Today, the Wildflower team continue as the ongoing caretakers of the T1 forecourt gardens and are leading a long-term bush regeneration project at the Airport Wetlands.
Jacaranda Women's Hub
We are proud to support the launch of the new Jacaranda Women’s Hub, a safe and welcoming space for women in the local community who have experienced adversity.
Located in Pagewood, the hub provides a one-stop destination for women and families, combining soft-entry community programs — including art, sewing, playgroups and parenting activities — with access to trauma-informed support services such as counselling, legal assistance, financial and housing support, and cultural programs for First Nations women.
Tackling plastic pollution in our waterways
We have teamed up with environmental technology leader Seabin™ to take on a big challenge close to home – reducing plastic pollution in the waterways that flow through and around the airport.
Together, we’ve launched a five-year plan to not only remove litter but also better understand where it’s coming from and how to stop it at the source.
The first step is a 12-month trial at Engine Pond East, right near the airport. If it’s successful, the project will expand to two more sites along Alexandra Canal, and later, could even reach the Cooks River.
